Newton Abbot’s former St Leonard’s Church will be open to visitors again as the team behind the £2million Newton’s Place community project hold an open day on Saturday, April 8.
Visitors can view the museum’s popular First World War exhibition, take architectural tours of the building, and enjoy free refreshments.
Project champion Cllr Mike Ryan said: ‘Our work to create the new museum and community space people have asked for continues and Saturday’s open day will provide a fresh chance to see the scale of the task ahead.
‘The Victorian building needs a lot of TLC but our initial bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund is in and with everyone’s support I’m confident we can deliver a facility to be proud of.
‘Come and take a look if you’ve not been inside before and help us to spread the word about Newton’s Place.
‘You can now follow us on Facebook and share the developments as they happen, these are exciting times for Newton Abbot and the surrounding parishes.’
Doors will be open from 11am to 2.30pm.
See www.newtonsplace.org for more details of the project.
