A PARISH council's beach clean-up operation is set to get underway next month, and additional volunteers can still sign up and join.

Shaldon Parish Council is to undertake a beach clean-up on Saturday, April 15.

From 8am, councillors, with litter-pickers in hand, will be out in force on the beach in search of litter, and those wishing to volunteer and join their elected representatives are most welcome.

A spokesman for Shaldon Parish Council said: 'In the past many volunteers have turned up to help and it has been very much appreciated as, without their help, it would be made very difficult to get it done in a day.

'If you have any boat and or kayaks on the beach that do not have a licence please can you ensure they are removed before the clean otherwise they will be removed on the day to a place where they can be collected, details of which will be provided after the clean.

'If you do have a licence and have not yet stuck it onto your boat please can you do so before the clean to save it being removed unnecessarily.

'If you have a lock or chain affixed to your boat please can you ensure that it is unlocked otherwise it may have to be cut if it impedes the beach clean.

'The Parish Council would like to thank all boat owners, in advance for, their co-operation regarding the above requests.'
