Police are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old man was left with a swollen and bruised eye and a broken bone in his left hand after an alleged assault in Newton Abbot on Saturday night.

His parents were also injured in the attack.

Lewis Evans, of Broadlands Avenue, was collecting his parents from a party in Bishopsteignton and was driving home when he was confronted by a group of revellers in fancy dress in Kingsteignton Road, near the Sibelco Eastgold works entrance, at 11.45pm.
