THEY were all there – a priest, a nun, musketeers, Mrs Brown, a policeman, a cowgirl, Miss Piggy, and a host of festive characters.

And the bizarre bunch drew surprised looks and cheery hooting and waves from motorists as they cycled from Starcross to Dawlish and back.

It was the annual Christmas fancy dress party for the Teign Valley Pedal Bashers social cycling group, and more than 60 swopped Lycra for even more colourful outfits on Sunday.

The fun began with hot mulled wine at the Starcross Fishing and Cruising Club before the ride for more refreshments at Dawlish Warren, and on to the Brunswick Arms in Dawlish for carol singing, finally heading back to the clubhouse and a Christmas lunch followed by a disco.
