Percy the cat has been living at Okehampton Railway Station for almost a year.
To celebrate his upcoming anniversary railway staff are organising a fundraising event with barbecue, quiz, raffle and Percy merchandise for sale, including postcards and t-shirts emblazoned with Percy’s photo, on August 6.
All proceeds will go to Mitzi’s Kitty Corner, who took Percy in before he found his permanent home as the station cat.
Percy has his own Facebook page and following.
He said: ‘Before finding my forever home here at the station, with all the lovely members of my staff who look after me, feed me, give me treats, brush me, give me lots of stokes and take me to the vets when I feel poorly, I was found wandering lost and in poor health.
‘The lovely people at Mitzi’s Kitty Corner took me in, gave me loads of attention and helped me back on my paws.
‘My staff here thought it would be a good idea to celebrate my anniversary with a fundraiser to help all those other unfortunate wandering cats and kittens.
‘Please come along and help me celebrate my anniversary and give money to a good cause.’
The fundraiser event is at Okehampton station on Dartmoor Railway, from 11am to 4pm.
