MAY BANK Holiday saw the return of Stokeinteignhead’s Fuzzy Dee Fun Run and village dog show, writes Bob Clowes.

As it was the first time this usual annual event has been arranged since Covid it was great to know that our wonderful village community spirit is alive and very well.

The event was opened by our popular local elected representative Cllr Chris Clarence, supported by his wife Sally added an impressive ‘Gold Chain’ to the occasion as he attended in his new capacity as the chairman of Teignbridge District Council.

The run from the Village Beacon Point high on the hill overlooking the coast to the centre of the village is not for the faint hearted.

It is a mile down a very rutted steep path that has twisted many ankles over the years yet contestants of all ages and abilities enjoy taking part.

Contestants enjoy a ride up to ‘Fuzzy Dee’ on tractors and trailers before the start the downhill race.

They range from the very competitive ones to the fun runners of all ages and abilities who enjoy this annual community event.

After a hard run and a warm reception they joined the Village Fun Dog trials in the Church House Inn car park to await the presentation of awards.
