MILLIONS of pounds could be spent on making Teignmouth one of the best small resorts in the country.

An ambitious vision of how the town could be enhanced has just been unveiled, and council officers insist: 'It's not just pie in the sky – we want to make the concepts a reality.'

A wishlist of 21 projects for 15 years includes a makeover for the lido outdoor pool; a new fish quay development; a new hotel; improving the area around the station; increasing retail space; upgrading the shopping areas; freshening up the pier; continuing the enhancement of the seafront and foreshore up to Sprey Point, and redevelopment of the Carlton Theatre site, which already has planning consent.
