A SITE for ‘Romany gypsy families’ at Liverton could be on the cards after a planning application to change the use of land was submitted to Teignbridge Council.

If given approval, it will see the land opposite Chapel Lane, off Old Liverton Road, house four static caravans and four touring caravans.

Since being submitted by Mr T Packman, of Taunton, at the end of last month, 17 people have objected to the plans.

Some residents in Liverton are up in arms over the application and have raised concerns with traffic issues, the land is outside of the council’s Local Plan, the proximity to Dartmoor National Park, noise and privacy issues.

A meeting is being held tomorrow (june 14) from 7.30pm at Ilsington Village Hall before a decision is hoped to be reached by July 26.
