PEOPLE in Newton Abbot are being urged to share their views on plans to build 1,800 homes on the edge of the town.

Teignbridge Council wants to know what residents and businesses think about plans to build a new school, shops, roads and community centre along with the 1,800 homes stretching from Forches Cross to the Seale-Hayne campus.

A public consultation starts on Monday until April 10 with a drop in centre arranged for March 16 at Highweek Village Hall from 2pm until 8pm.

Visit Teignbridge Council’s website to view and comment on the plans or email comments to [email protected].

Cllr Humphrey Clemens, the council’s executive spokesman for planning and housing said: ‘We welcome people’s views on this Development Framework Plan which supports the delivery of the Teignbridge Local Plan.

‘It is very important to the council to hear what people think about the proposals at Houghton Barton before being considered for adoption later this year.’

Ward member for the area Cllr Mike Hocking said: ‘This is an important opportunity to help shape the future of Newton Abbot and I encourage residents to get involved and share your views.’
