PLANS to build half a dozen new homes in a village near Newton Abbot have been rejected.
25/00639/FUL had sought permission for six dwellings on land to the west of Tremlett Grove, Ipplepen.
But the application, submitted by Bishopstone Homes and received by Teignbridge District Council (TDC) on April 16, was rejected by the authority this week.
‘No provision of affordable housing has been made and no mechanism for the provision of affordable housing has been secured’, TDC said in its decision notice.
The council went on to say that the proposed development would not reflect the housing needs of Ipplepen or the wider Teignbridge area.
According to the planning statement, Bishopstone Homes intends to provide six ‘high-quality market dwellings of a contemporary style’.
Ipplepen Parish Council objected to the application, saying the design of the homes were ‘inappropriate’ for Ipplepen.
The parish council also pointed out that the site was not designated in either the Ipplepen Neighbourhood Plan or the Teignbridge Local Plan.
In addition to the Ipplepen Parish Council’s objection, 25/00639/FUL saw more than 25 other objections from residents.
