PLANS to replace the cadet huts at the bottom of Bitton Park have been given the green-light by planners.
Submitted by Teignmouth Town Council, the application - reference 25/01381/FUL - sought permission to demolish the four existing cadet huts and replace them with a block of six community workshops.
The application also includes provision for ten metal storage containers.
And Teignbridge Council have today, Thursday, March 12, granted planning permission.
‘The development hereby permitted shall begin before the expiry of three years from the date of this permission’, the council said.
The decision comes after Teignmouth Town Council withdrew its initial planning application for the site in April 2025 after Teignbridge Council repeatedly delayed a decision on the project.
The town council had complained that the goalposts were continually moved with multiple Teignbridge Council conservation officers asking numerous questions and making additional demands.
Among the issues raised by conservation officers were: the proximity of the units to the Grade II* listed Bitton House; the inclusion of ten storage containers in the plans; and the requirement for a bat survey.
