PLANS have been submitted to turn Dawlish’s old Natwest Bank building into a block of six flats.

Six Brookdale Terrace was built in 1888 for the Devon and Cornwall Banking Company, and was used as a bank until the closure of Natwest in 2014.

Its new owner, Westpointe Estates now wants to ‘rejuvenate this imposing building architecturally and economically, providing much needed and sort after quality rental accommodation.’

The three-storey building is planned to provide six new dwellings. In the design and access statement, the developers state: ‘Banks and office accommodation are in decline and vacant retail units are available in with little demand, there is a significant shortage of quality rental accommodation with high demand within the Teignbridge area.’
