A 40-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to murdering a Newton Abbot man.

Stuart Hodgkin, of Stockbridge Road, Winchester, Hampshire, appeared via video link at Exeter Crown Court.

He denied murdering 51-year-old Adrian Munday, who was found dead in the lounge of his home in Wain Lane, Newton Abbot, last October.

His body was discovered after there had been a fire at the premises.

Police said he had sustained injuries not connected to the blaze.

Hodgkin was remanded in custody to Exeter Prison and the court heard a three- week murder trial will begin at the end of May.
