POLICE and paramedics were called to an address in Ashburton amid suspicions an elderly man had been assaulted.
Police went to a property in Cooks Close just before 1am on Sunday.
The casualty, in his mid-70s, had suffered an injury to the head which an ambulance crew were able to treat at the scene.
An ambulance spokesman said the patient did not need further treatment at hospital.
It is not certain how the man came by his injury.
