A POLICE cordon has been put in place along a street in Newton Abbot.

Bearne’s Lane off Bank Street, adjacent to the Country Table Cafe and Frames and Boxes, has been taped off as of this morning, Thursday, May 15.

Two officers are at the scene.

Police are reportedly waiting for the forensic team to arrive, the Mid-Devon Advertiser understands.

The Mid-Devon Advertiser has contacted Devon and Cornwall Police regarding the situation.

It is thought that an incident occurred in the early hours of this morning.

An eyewitness walking past just after midnight told the Mid-Devon Advertiser that they saw an ambulance and police.

The cordon has been in place from at least 5am, though it is likely earlier.
