DEVON and Cornwall Police are warning residents throughout the two counties of two current email scams that are circulating the internet.
One is an Amazon scam. It claims that Amazon accounts have been breached, which is incorrect – they have not been hacked into.
The fake email address is from ukamazonverify.co.uk and asks the recipient to complete an ‘account verification’ process.
People are warned not to enter any personal or bank details.
The other is a Lloyds Bank scam. The email poses as coming from a member of staff from Lloyds Bank called Chang Crabtree. It then asks the recipient to read and return a document. This attachment is malicious and could infect your computer taking any bank details.
Detectives are warning internet users to keep their anti-virus packages up-to-date and not to open any suspicious emails or attachments.
Anyone who spots a suspicious email in their inbox should not visit the link, but mark it as spam and delete it.
