ALISTAIR Dewhirst has been re-elected to Devon County Council for Ipplepen and the Kerswells.

With the re-drawn boundaries Chris Clarance who was the Tory councillor for the disbanded Teign Estuary division (now known as Kingsteignton and Teign Estuary) stood in Ipplepen and Kerswell instead, but he went down by just 85 votes to sitting councillor Alistair Dewhirst for the Lib Dems.

The Teignbridge District councillor said he was delighted to be able to serve his community once again at County Hall.

He said: ‘It feels wonderful to be re-elected.

‘It has been a huge amount of hard work which has paid off.

‘I would like to thank my wife, family and team of volunteers.’

Cllr Dewhirst thanked his opposition for a ‘tough and clean’ campaign.
