In a unique sight for the skies over Devon, three KC130J aircraft, better known as the Hercules in RAF service here in the UK, and four tilt-rotor MV-22 Ospreys landed at Exeter Airport following a trans-Atlantic flight.
The KC130 aircraft are believed to be from VMGR-252, a Marine Air Corps Squadron based as Station Cherry Point, North Carolina who provide both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aerial refuelling capabilities to support marine air operations in addition to assault air transport of personnel, equipment, and supplies.
They were supporting the four Osprey aircraft, from Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) that will be used for VIP transport duties during the summit.
As the KC130s were re-fuelled at the airport, and duly paid for by credit card, numerous containers marked as VIP Kit were seen being unloadedcontents of which we can only guess at!
