NEWTON Abbot MP Anne Marie Morris has been named and shamed as one of the worst MPs for responding to messages.

The Tory member (pictured right) has been ranked at 627 out of 641 MPs, just in front of Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn.

In 2015/16 WriteToThem.com, which conducted the research, sent Ms Morris 192 messages but she only replied to 14 per cent of them – meaning for every 106 messages received, she only replied to 15.

Anne Marie, who replied to our requests for a comment, said: ‘I understand this ranking is based on one website and only considers 192 pieces of correspondence received in a year.

‘I receive in excess of 500 emails a day.’

She said the amount of time it takes to reply depends on what the message is about.

‘Along with all MPs I do my level best to respond to all enquiries as soon as possible but in a number of different ways.’

Ms Morris’ opposite number for Totnes, Sarah Wollaston was ranked as the 22nd best MP for replying to her constituents.

Out of the 242 messages Ms Wollaston received, she replied to 86 per cent, which means for every 118 messages she receives, she replied to 102 of them.
