TWO prominent Devon MPs have joined in widespread condemnation of President Trump’s inflammatory remarks against Theresa May’s Brexit Britain.
His Sun interview grumbles undermining the PM and supporting ex-Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson have provoked gasps of disbelief across the political divide in the UK.
Totnes Tory MP and health committee chairman Sarah Wollaston reckoned the US president had been ‘determined to insult’ his host during his controversial UK visit.
She added: ‘The divisive, dog-whistle rhetoric in his Sun interview is repulsive. If signing up to the Trump world view is the price of a deal, it’s not worth paying.’
Ben Bradshaw, Labour MP for Exeter, described the courting of Trump by the UK as ‘humiliating’.
He complained: ‘Our prime minister is so weak she still rolls out the red carpet for a man who does nothing but insult her. Humiliating.’
