MAYOR of Kingsteignton Ron Peart and his deputy Beryl Austen have been re-elected to serve the town on Teignbridge Council.

Independent Cllr Austen, now in her 25th year on the authority, picked up 663 votes with her victorious Conservative colleague Cllr Peart bagging 520.

Cllr Peart, who has served on Teignbridge for the last two years, said: ‘I am feeling pretty good and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.

‘I will continue to work hard for residents in Kingsteignton and surrounding hamlets.’

Cllr Austen said she was ‘very pleased’ with the results and was looking forward to collecting £25 off her son who bet she’d be re-elected.
