DEPUTY Lib Dem leader Alistair Dewhirst will continue to service residents in Ipplepen for the next four years, it has been decided.

Cllr Dewhirst bagged 786 votes with his only opponent Lloyd Fursdon picking up 197.

He said: ‘I am elated. It’s fantastic to be the first candidate to be announced today. It is really wonderful.

‘I would like to thank all resident in Ipplepen who voted for me and I promise to do my best for them during the next four years.’
