NEWTON Abbot MP Anne Marie Morris, who is in favour of the Leave campaign has expressed her views on the EU referendum.

‘I do think as a country and frankly Teignbridge and Devon most certainly will be much better off if we leave and at the moment the results are quite remarkable but the most important thing about this is that we have actually seen an incredibly significant turnout, I mean here in Teignbridge it’s literally just under 80 per cent, that’s phenomenal, that’s bigger than what we had at the General Election,’ she said.

‘The result is going to be something which we can honestly say, which ever way it goes, there is a mandate from the British people.

‘But if we do leave, it seems to me we have so many opportunities to really grow our economy.

‘if we vote to leave it’s going to be a great opportunity here in the south west and particularly in Teignbridge,’ she added.

When asked how she would feel if the outcome was to stay in the EU, she said:

‘If there is a vote to remain, then I think the most important thing is to recognise that, that is the will of the people.

‘Any vote must be respected,’ she added.

When asked if she had signed the letter asking David Cameron to carry on his duties no matter what the outcome of the referendum, she said: ‘I haven’t because I wasn’t asked to sign the letter but I have always said in all of my public appearances that I have made during this campaign that what we need, whichever way it goes, is a solid leadership group.’
