A funding crisis that could leave Kingsteignton without a swimming pool for the first time in more than 30 years has yet to be resolved as the March 13 deadline – the pool's annual meeting – looms.

Last week the Advertiser revealed that without an injection of at least £5,000 the gates would have to stay locked this summer.

The problem – put down to a fall in the number of people paying for a dip, and escalating costs – has been described as the worst yet to face the community-run pool.

Members of the town council discussed the matter on Wednesday but failed to identify a means of guaranteeing its future.
