THE work of a Newton Abbot artist who died aged 64 in January last year, was one of the town's best kept secrets.
For David Stuttard painted at least 366 works, many of them of Newton Abbot and its everyday characters, as well as scenes from Teignmouth, Dawlish and other areas.
David lived in a terraced house in Spencer Road, took early retirement from teaching, as head of music, on medical grounds in 1985, and between 1987-2009 his painting became his life.
This week an exhibition of some of his works are on show in Unit 4, Pearl Assurance House, 1-7 Courtenay Street, Newton Abbot.
