THE local proclamation was read in Teignbridge today (Monday, September 12) to formally announce the accession of His Majesty, King Charles III.

Held in the grounds of Old Forde House, Newton Abbot, the chair of Teignbridge Council, Cllr Charles Nuttall, read the proclamation.

A small crowd had gathered to hear the historic announcement at 10am which was followed by three cheers for the new king and the singing of the national anthem.

The district event follows the national proclamation which was held on Saturday at St James’ Palace in London and the county proclamation at Devon County Hall yesterday (Sunday).
