I have just read in the Mid-Devon Advertiser about some of the proposed plans for Newton Abbot. I was aghast!

A multi-storey car park in a Cricketfield Car park, what about the poor residents who live around this area, or extra congestion it’s going to cause, which already is highly congested at peak times.

Surely a park and ride scheme would be more beneficial to the environment rather than clogging up the streets with yet more cars coming into an already packed town centre.

More concrete too, not so pleasant, as I’m sure it will will be done ‘cheaply’.

Another concrete eyesore in the centre of the town. A glass roof on Market Walk, what about in a few years’ time when birds have messed on it or green mould starts growing on it, will it be left to deteriorate like so many places in NA?

Another diabolical proposal is turning the job centre into a hotel, is there not a perfectly good hotel at the bottom end of the town which has been left to go to rack and ruin. Does any of this make sense?

Maybe getting some half-decent shops into NA would be a start and some facilities for the youngsters of the town, not just putting the cinema into New Look, what is the point when we have a cinema that could be improved/updated, pointless!

NA needs improving in so many ways, but I do not feel that any of these proposals are of any benefit to this area at all. Come on Teignbridge get your act together!
