The Rotary Club of Teignmouth is hosting a PSA (prostate-specific antigen) testing evening at Teignmouth Rugby Club on Thursday (January 15) from 5pm until 8pm.
The event is open to all men aged 40 years and over.
While all GP surgeries may occasionally offer this test to men over the age of 65, it can be quite difficult to obtain a test unless you are displaying specific symptoms, a spokesperson from Teignmouth Rotary said. ‘It is, therefore, important to note that prostate cancer can affect men of any age, and there has been an increase in diagnoses amongst younger men.’
Tests normally cost £26, but Teignmouth Rotary Club is sponsoring, with the help from a number of generous local businesses, over 150 tests at the reduced cost of £16.
Appointments can be booked at www.myhealthtests.org.uk
