VICTORIA Park, Buckfastleigh, is to be transformed with a £200,000 grant from Viridor Credits Environmental Company.

The grant will fund a new skatepark, play equipment for younger children and landscaping to create a space for events.

Work is expected to begin in the spring, and completed in time to celebrate the park’s 130th anniversary in 2017.

Cllr Pam Barrett, chairman of the Trustees of Victoria Park, said: ‘This project is not just about a park. It’s about the regeneration of a town which has seen its services dwindle in recent years.
