A ROW has erupted about the way a regeneration group was granted money to improve Kingsteignton town centre.

Town council finance committee chairman Cllr Rob Harris blasted the way a £4,000 grant to town centre enhancement group KCPIG was approved.

It was agreed that the fact Cllr Bill Thorne, who is also chairman of KCPIG (Kingsteignton Community Plan Implementation Group), proposed and spoke about the grant bid and that it was seconded by the mayor, Cllr Chris Meathrel, at the time secretary of the group, contravened council rules.

Councillors have agreed to reconsider the grant at an extraordinary meeting of the council later this month.
