CHEQUES totalling more than £5,000 were presented to Dawlish charities on Friday. The money was raised at an annual sportsmen's dinner held at the Langstone Cliff Hotel in December. The Dawlish Hospital League of Friends received £1,000, The Special People Fund £2,000 and Dawlish United Youth and Mini Soccer £2,225. Accepting the money for DUYMS was Ian Hill, who said: 'Once again, a big thank you to my brother, Jimmy, and all who helped raise this money. It will go a long way for the club with regards buying equipment.' On behalf of the League of Friends, Ray Moore said: 'We are delighted to have this support and it will help greatly at the hospital.' Dave Cridge, of the Special People Fund, said: 'Jimmy Hill and the boys have done it again. We are very grateful for their efforts.'
