A £68,000 pedestrian safety and traffic-calming scheme for Dawlish Warren is expected to get the nod from Teignbridge Local Government Partnership committee next week.
The committee has already approved the principle of the scheme, which involves speed humps and a 20mph zone through the resort, at a meeting in November.
Now funds are in place and it is likely that the first phase of three will begin late next month.
Phase one will cover Mount Pleasant to Beach Road; phase two Dawlish Sands Holiday Park to Shutterton Lane; and phase three Beach Road to Shutterton Lane.
The scheme is funded from the Local Area Programme of the Devon Local Transport Plan. All three phases will be built in sequence between February and mid-April, avoiding holiday periods.
The scheme came from work by the Dawlish Town Partnership, and is in the Dawlish Town Centre Action Plan.
The town council, Teignbridge Council, Devon County Council, Dawlish Chamber of Trade, groups and other individuals have all had an input and supported the scheme.
There has been significant public support.
