One of Newton Abbot town centre's long established businesses is to close, a victim of the recession.

The Newton Gallery, near the clock tower, has been trading against all odds through times of boom and bust for more than five decades.

But the latest recession was the final nail in the coffin for the current owners, who have decided to shut up shop.

Colin and Margaret Mills took over the business four years ago.
