TEIGNMOUTH lifeboat fundraisers collected £114,000 in 2011 – £12,000 more than the previous year.,

It is a record amount, and a delighted Lorraine Lizius, chairman of the fundraising committee, declared: 'We could not believe how much was raised – it is quite staggering.,

'It was all made possible by a very strong and loyal committee, along with a magnificent team of volunteers, the generosity of local people and businesses.',

She added that the support for the RNLI in the area demonstrated that the lifeboat was at the heart of the community.,
