THE best in the west – that’s the accolade bestowed on a Teignmouth choir.

The Red Rock Harmony a capella chorus was awarded the shield for the best barbershop chorus at the Exeter Music Festival, competing against groups from Bristol, Cornwall and Plymouth.

They have grown over the past six years to a 40-strong chorus competing in national and local competitions. Karol Robinson from Red Rock praised their ‘amazing’ musical director Jude Hawmen for her ‘enthusiasm, energy and dedication, which inspires us.’

They were now focusing on the Labbs’ competition in Bournemouth and various local singouts.
