ONE man’s fight to house 50 refugee families stalled after his petition was not discussed at last week’s full Teignbridge Council meeting.
Russell Cornish, who handed the petition which has 267 signatures to chairman Cllr Mike Hocking, in October, was set to have his campaign reviewed, but it never made it.
A spokesman for the authority said: ‘Although it was initially proposed to be reported to the November 23 full council, scheduling has meant that the petition will be dealt with under the chairman’s announcements section of the full council on December 8.’
Mr Cornish said: ‘I was surprised to find that the refugee petition was not discussed at the latest council meeting as previously advised.
‘It would have been good manners to have been told of this decision.
‘There are 300 people who signed the petition who are waiting to hear the outcome and there are many refugees who are desperate for help.’
