A survey of households in Newton Abbot has suggested overwhelming support for a BMX and skate area in Bakers Park.

In April, the Newton Shredders, a group of youngsters from Newton Abbot and Ogwell, hand-delivered 550 letters to the area surrounding the park.

Now the results are in and 85 per cent of those who responded said they supported the campaign, 15 per cent were opposed.

The main issue against was anti-social behaviour, but the Shredders have said they are working with Teignbridge Council and a skate park design company to address the problem.
