FURIOUS residents marched on Bitton House on Tuesday in a row over the future of a vital Teignmouth community centre in a deprived area.
They were concerned that the town council was involved in a behind the scenes move to take over the running of the Kingsway Meadow Centre.
Adults and youngsters with banners turned up to lobby councillors attending an emergency meeting of the finance and general purposes committee meeting, which was called without the press being informed.
The meeting was to discuss the town council being given a licence by Teignbridge Council for the administration of the centre, and after heated exchanges, members eventually voted by seven to three to hold it in private (part two) with the press and public being excluded.
