KINGSTEIGNTON residents and town councillors were out in force on Sunday to protest at the potential loss of an ‘iconic’ green space in the town.
Codex Land Promotion was granted outline planning permission for up to 80 homes at Penns Mount last December. A condition was attached, in line with the Teignbridge Local Plan, that there would be no development on a five-hectare space on the hilltop.
The developers has now applied for a variation on its application, to allow an access road on the green space, stating the condition has ‘land-locked’ potential properties.
Resident Jill Morris said: ‘I think it’s absolutely disgraceful that they’re trying to take even more open space away. There’s too much building in the town and enough’s enough.<
