LOCAL MEMBERS from contemporary choir group the Rock Choir are eagerly awaiting to perform on March 18 to raise money for this year’s Red Nose Day appeal.

Rock Choir will perform outside the Sainsbury’s store at The Willows, Nicholson Road, Torquay at 11am and members will be collecting donations in aid of Comic Relief.

This event will see members from Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Torquay and Plymouth join forces to raise money and will be overseen by the regions Rock Choir leader – Richard Toomer.

Richard is the choir leader for Newton Abbot, Plymouth, Teignmouth and Torquay and the long-time music lover has over 20 years experience as a head of music and performing arts in comprehensive schools in Birmingham and Devon; he has worked in theatres and with orchestras and choirs all over the country.

Rock Choir was created in 2005 by singer and musician Caroline Redman Lusher and has since become the UK’s leading contemporary choir, offering rehearsals and performances to more than 400 towns and communities across the UK.

The group has won three Guinness World Records and was the subject of a 2011 documentary series entitled ‘The Choir That Rocks’ which followed the choir’s journey leading up to a landmark performance at London’s Wembley Arena.
