The first game of the evening saw Rokits up against Abbotskerswell, writes Kate Atkinson.

It was a fairly even affair during the first quarter, and at the first break there was only three goals in it, Rokits having an 11-8 lead.

It was Rokits who dominated the remainder of the game, steadily increasing the gap between themselves and Abbots.

At half-time they were 23-14 ahead.

Rokits kept up the pressure in the second half, and strong play in centre court resulted in their player of the match, Kate Darke (GA/GS), having plenty of opportunities to score goals for her team, taking them to a 33-22 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Abbots' player of the match Amy Crangle (GK) did her best to stem the flow of points as Rokits ran out 43-30 winners, taking five points.

Abbots secure a point for keeping within half of the opponents' score and therefore just retain their position at the top of the division one table.

l The other game of the evening was a close match between Denbury Devils Red and Dolly Mixtures.

In the first half the teams had to contend with bad weather, resulting in a slippery surface, and Devils had to bring on their sub early in the first quarter after one of their players took a nasty tumble.

Another time out later in the same quarter meant play was a bit stop-start, but both teams still managed to score eight goals.

Devils' player of the match Jazz Cross (GD) helped make up a strong defence, which saw them 15-13 up at half-time.

Dollies' Keri Leaman played a superb game in WD – not her usual position – helping to keep the gap between her team and Devils just two goals going into the last quarter.

Dollies' player of the match Dawn Pedrick (GA) made scoring look easy, and at one stage during the final period they were ahead.

However, Devils found fresh reserves to fight back to win 36-34.

Picking up two points for getting within five goals of Devils' score, Dollies stay ahead of them in the table, but Devils have played a game less.

Division one matches continue on Wednesday, November 2, when Devils Red play Rokits at 7pm and Spirit play Abbotskerswell at 8.15pm.
