Ten-year-old Sharna Breslan has been announced winner of the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust's Name the Pony competition. Back in November we asked readers to think up a name for a new foal that had joined their adoption paddock at Brimpts Farm. Sharna beat all the other entrants with the name Rolo, and was invited to a special meet your pony day at the farm last week. Sharna joined around 100 others for the day, where families were invited to come and see the ponies and learn all about the breed. 'It was a great family day out and it was lovely to see lots of people coming to enjoy the ponies,' said project officer Dru Butterfield. Sharna took her family along, including her grandmother, who had first spotted the competition. 'It was a great day out. Sharna thoroughly enjoyed it and is already planning more trips back the farm,' said her mother. 'They have told her she can visit whenever she likes to take Rolo for a walk. We all thought it was a fantastic day and it really opened up our eyes to all the good work the Trust is doing,' she added. Hot drinks and mince pies were on sale and the event raised a total of £326.
