IN the wake of the Newton Abbot Carnival not going ahead, the Rotary Club has stepped in to deliver some summer fun with their Rotary Summer Fayre.

The event will be hosted between 12pm and 5pm on Saturday, August 26, in Courtenay Park, Newton Abbot.

There will be live entertainment, a bouncy castle, fun run, charity and trade stalls and plenty of food concessions.

But the highlight of the day will be the incorporation of the Great Rotary Wheelbarrow Race, in which teams of six to eight will compete across a course on the park with twists, turns and water pistols.

The race will take 60 minutes, starting at 2pm. The team team completes the most laps with their metal wheelbarrows will be crowned the winner. There will also be prizes for second and the best fancy dress.

The cost to enter is £25 per team, and raising additional money for charity is encouraged.
