A ROW erupted over grant funding to Kingsteignton swimming pool when it emerged organisers did not feel they should have to go 'cap in hand to the council to beg for money'.

The grant for £2,000 was finally approved but not without a lengthy debate by town councillors about whether the committee running the 25-metre heated pool needed the money.

Cllr Bruce Moss had serious concerns about handing over the money having discovered that the pool, in Meadowcroft Drive, had £39,000 in the bank.
