Royal British?Legion members and Scout leaders were furious when they learned South Dartmoor Community College, Ashburton, students could not take part in Sunday's remembrance services because of show rehearsals at the college.

But college principal Hugh Bellamy said no student who had informed the college of the need was banned from attending.

The dispute blew up this week after it was believed students in the end of term entertainment had been told Sunday's rehearsal was more important than representing their Scout group at a remembrance service.

Scout leaders emailed their displeasure to the college.
