THE Mare and Foal Sanctuary at Ipplepen is encouraging potential visitors to come soon before the centre closes for the winter season.
Executive director Simon Avery said: ‘We strive to give our visitors the best experience possible.
‘During the winter months most of our horses are out grazing in the fields through the day, so there aren’t many for visitors to meet and we don’t want to disappoint anyone.
‘As a result we will be closing the visitor centre from November 2, but we’ll be running a programme of special events for people to attend throughout the season.
‘Before that we have a whole week of spooktacular Halloween activities planned so make sure you do come and see us over half term!’
During special events visitors will have access to the tack and gift shop, and the café will be open serving drinks and hot and cold food.
The sanctuary’s website and Facebook pages will be updated constantly and will show details of special events such as dressage, showjumping, and workshops from famous equestrian names including world renowned jumping coach Eric Smiley.
The arena at Coombe Park is available for hire throughout the year featuring seating for 114, a judge’s box with timing equipment and a full set of show jumps.
‘If you have a journey planned to see our horses through the winter please do get in touch first,’ said a spokesman.
The visitor centre will reopen for the Easter weekend of 2016.
