BEACH levels are so low on part on Teignmouth beach they have reached crisis point.

Now urgent work is under way to shore up the Point before the winter storms, which wrecked the pier and part of the promenade this year, return and cause major damage.

Ten thousands tonnes of sand are being shifted from the river side of the Point to the vulnerable seaward side.
