DOZENS of parking tickets have been dished out illegally to motorists in Teignmouth.

They were issued in two streets where there were no restrictions and now red-faced Teignbridge and county council officials have agreed to reimburse the drivers – if they can be traced.

An investigation discovered that neither highway was covered by a traffic regulation order.

And to compound the errors, three of the dodgy fines contributed to a businessman's car being seized by bailiffs when he refused to pay up.

The car has been returned to him at tax payers' expense from a Midlands compound where it was being stored.
