A LONG-empty site in a Teignbridge village could be transformed into several business units under new plans lodged with the council.
Submitted by River Exe Group Limited, the application - reference 26/00958/MAJ is seeking permission for nine B2/B8 commercial units at land off Generals Lane, Starcross.
The proposals, which also include landscaping, parking and a storage area for boats, will allow for ‘the development of the currently vacant and overgrown site and offer valuable employment opportunities in a sustainable location’, the design and access statement for 26/00958/MAJ says.
The commercial units will include: solar panels; solar-thermal heating; battery storage and an air source heat pump.
And according to the statement, 50 per cent of the parking spaces will be served by electric vehicle charging points.

Undeveloped and roughly square in shape, the site at Generals Lane is located between a housing estate on Generals Close and Rose Cottage.
The design and access statement continues: ‘The site is readily accessible by walking and cycling and connects easily to the wider area through the local public transport links, including bus and rail connections.
‘The expected noise and disruption generated by the proposals will be modest and will not have a negative impact on the adjacent housing estates’.
