A £400,000 children's centre is set to be developed at a Newton Abbot school which at one time had special measures imposed on it.

The centre – at Haytor View Community Primary School and Nursery – will provide families and young children with a one-stop shop for essential services.

The project is part of a multi-million pound programme by Devon County Council to develop 43 children's centres across the county.

The facilities bring together professionals with the aim of promoting learning, healthy lifestyles and the early identification of problems which could affect a child's development.
